Thanks for the compliment. I won't comment on my writing, but my personal feeling about much that is written by both the mainstream media and many blogs is that it is shallow and under-researched. I would love to have the time and staff some of these million dollar reporters have to be able to research issues. Given my disability, even a typist would be nice.

The larger issue though is garbage in, garbage out. One reason we ended up with George Bush is the shallowness of the media and the reporting. The Iraq War is a great example. It doesn't take a CIA analyst but merely someone willing to research the history of the area to know that a country drawn on the back of napkin is going to implode once the totalitarian forces that held it together are gone.

Strange Death one of the things that impresses me about your writing is that you are able to talk about issues with a great deal more insight and knowledge than most of the journalists who are actually paid to cover these issues for the public.

One of your throw away lines about how many of the practices that were used by the loan shark industry went mainstream reminds me of a book I read that talked about how the underground economy drives trends in the aboveground economy. The best example in Eric Schlosser's book on the hidden economy was the part on how America's largest pornographer started many of the trends used to hide assets back in the 60s and 70s.

I think you make a good case for your arguement.

Thank you for this, I was truly ignorant to the extent of the racial aspect of all this. I moved into a new suburban neighborhood in 2000. Luckily we are a pretty mixed group in my neighborhood. My two sons have multiple friends over at once of all different racial backgrounds. Thankfully they will not be subjected to such a segregated life, but I got lucky, it seems...

Very interesting point of view. It's helpful to see how other people feel about issues like this.
